  4. Brush Noise
    Unique to brushed DC motors, this noise comes from brush-commutator contact, friction, unstable electrical contact, or sparking. It manifests as periodic scratching or crackling sounds.

2. Common Noise & Vibration Problems and Solutions

  • Bearing Noise: Caused by wear, lack of lubrication, improper installation, or unsuitable clearance. Solutions: replace bearings, add grease, improve installation accuracy.

  • Rotor Imbalance: Caused by bent shafts or imbalance in the rotor. Solutions: recalibrate rotor balance or straighten the shaft.

  • Rotor-Stator Friction: Caused by uneven air gap, loose cores, or foreign objects. Solutions: adjust the air gap, tighten the stator core, or remove debris.

  • Fan Noise: Caused by damaged or loose blades, or poor air duct design. Solutions: repair/replace fan, optimize airflow design.

3. Noise Reduction and Vibration Control Measures

  1. Structural Optimization:

    • Use skewed rotor slots to reduce electromagnetic force fluctuations.

    • Optimize winding design and air-gap magnetic field distribution.

    • Improve the rigidity of stator and rotor cores to reduce deformation.

  2. Drive Control Improvement:

    • Apply optimized PWM motor control and harmonic suppression algorithms.

    • Improve motor startup and operating strategies to avoid resonance.

    • Use low-loss silicon steel sheets to enhance anti-vibration properties.

    • Ensure high-precision assembly of bearings and rotors.

    • Conduct strict rotor dynamic balance testing.

  4. Operation & Maintenance:

    • Regularly inspect and replace worn components.

    • Add or refresh lubricating grease.

    • Remove foreign objects to avoid additional friction and noise.
